Our tour starts off in the lofty heights of Bedugul an area steeped in both tradition and history. Bedugul is 1,500 meters above sea level and is a completely different climate from the south of Bali. The air is somewhat chillier, and as a result the produce different; here you can taste fresh picked strawberries from a local plantation. After sampling the tasty fruits of the area the tour will take you to one of the more unusual sites, an abandoned Bedugul hotel. The hotel was originally constructed some 20 years ago by the Soharto family, and due to the Bali bombings was never completed; now the hotel (which has some of the best views in the area) has become a macabre tourist attraction in its own right.
After seeing the hotel you will don a traditional Sari as you enter the sacred Ulun Danu temple which sits on top of the impressive Beratan Lake. The temples are exquisitely beautiful and are one of Bali’s top tourist destinations, there is also a small wildlife park in the temple where you can have your photo taken with snakes, monkeys, and many large birds. The temple is still working today so you should be respectful at all times to the Balinese culture and traditions, your guide will explain about the history and religious significance of the temple as you explore inside. After lunch the tour will take you to one of Bali’s most iconic sights, the Jatiluwih rice terraces near Ubud. These incredible man made terraces have been how people in the area have farmed rice for generations and is now a picture postcard view of the Balinese countryside.
The tour ends at the magical Tanah Lot Temple built on a rock in the middle of the sea this is without doubt the most impressive temple on the island and has a reputation as the most magical and mysterious. It is said that couples who visit who are trying for a baby readily conceive after leaving the holy site. Be that as it may it is an awe inspiring place and a great end to an excellent natural tour of Bali.
