Day 01: MEDAN – PARAPAT/SAMOSIR ISLAND
Upon arrival at Kuala Namu International Airport, you will be picked up by your personal tour guide and driver, ready to take you to Parapat the fastest way possible to start your Lake Toba package - the perfect start of an epic holiday! On the way, you will get awestruck by the breathtaking sceneries of paddy fields and swaying palm trees. From the harbour at Parapat, you will hop on the public ferry to reach Samosir, a small island on the world’s largest crater lake: Lake Toba - a natural world wonder. Samosir Island is home to interesting Batak Villages with their iconic boat-shaped wooden houses. The ferry ride is also very scenic and once you’ve set foot on the island, you can check into your hotel and relax after a long, inspirational journey. Day 02: LAKE TOBA CRUISE
Wake up to the sounds of nature and the tranquillity of an island and go have breakfast at the hotel. What a wonderful way to greet the day! Fresh air, beautiful surroundings, peacefulness, let’s go explore Samosir Island! On a lovely private Lake Toba boat cruise, you will pass beautiful coves with white sandy beaches and you will be visiting several traditional villages such as Simanindo, Pangururan and Ambarita, home to the ancient ‘stone chairs and table’ - an important meeting and execution place where the King Siallagan and the elders held council back in the old days. During this Samosir Island tour, you will also stop at some natural hot springs where you can take a bath in the open air if you wish, surrounded by the stunning nature of Lake Toba. Yes, indeed, Lake Toba is one of the natural world wonders. Not only is it the largest crater lake in the world, but it is also the largest lake in all of southeast Asia and it is the world’s deepest lake as well (505 meters). Make sure to take lots of photos on this unforgettable Lake Toba cruise because tonight is the last night you will be spending on this beautiful crater lake island. Day 03: SAMOSIR ISLAND/PARAPAT – BERASTAGI
Take one last look at the natural beauty of Lake Toba while enjoying breakfast at the hotel and catch the ferry back to Parapat. The Lake Toba tour package is over but more amazing adventures await. From Parapat, this wonderful Sumatra adventure holiday takes you northwest to the outskirts of Kato highlights towards Dokan, a charming and authentic traditional Karonese village which gives a great insight into the local culture. From there, the road goes up into the lush green highlands where you will make a stop at the sprawling town of Berastagi (the old Dutch Hill Station). You can stroll around a traditional fruit market, enjoy the scenic surroundings and breathe in the fresh air before driving even further up into the mountains to Gundaling Hill where you’ll be blown away by the views of Mount Sinabung and Mount Sibayak. From there, your private driver will take you to the hotel for a goodnight’s sleep.
Day 04: BERASTAGI - BUKIT LAWANG
Wake up to the views of volcanoes and the stunning highlands of Berastagi and pack up - your private Sumatra tour package continues after breakfast, taking you to the deep, dense jungle of Bukit Lawang. After the enormous crater lake and the peaking volcanoes, it is now time for an unforgettable Sumatra wildlife tour. Bukit Lawang is only a small village at the banks of Bahorok River but it is the largest sanctuary for the amazing Sumatran Orangutan and one of the main access points to get into (East) Gunung Leuser National Park where you can spot the Orangutans in the wild. Straight after checking into your hotel, the Bukit Lawang tour starts - you will go on a private jungle trek where you get a chance to see not only OrangUtans but also long-tail macaques, gibbons, Thomas Leaf monkeys and more creatures that live in the Sumatran Jungle. The Forestry Debt charges extra fees for bringing cameras (Rp.50.000) and video recorders (Rp. 150.000) into the national park. The jungle trek takes approximately 3 hours.
Day 05: BUKIT LAWANG – AIRPORT
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and take one last gaze at the stunning rainforest. From the town of Bukit Lawang, your driver will take you back to the international airport of Medan to catch your evening flight (note: the departure of your flight should be after 8 pm!).
